The problem
You are on a call and want to show something on your iPad. AirPlay needs the network to cooperate, adds lag, and drops when someone microwaves lunch. QuickTime can do it, if you remember that movie recording is where it hides, and it gives you no say over which device or what happens when you unplug.
What Mirror does
Plug the device in and click Connect. The iPad or iPhone becomes an ordinary Mac window at full resolution, over USB, with no network involved. Share that window in Zoom, Meet, OBS or QuickTime like any other. Unplug and it closes cleanly instead of freezing on the last frame.
