Who we are
Boringware is a brand of Rocketship, LLC. We build and sell small, focused apps through Apple's App Store and other software marketplaces. This policy covers our apps and the boringware.com website.
The short version
We collect only the information we need to develop and support our apps. We don't run accounts, we don't track you, and we never sell your personal information.
Our apps
Our apps are designed to work entirely on your devices:
- No accounts. Our apps don't require sign-ups or logins.
- No analytics or tracking. We don't embed analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs in our apps.
- Your data stays yours. App data lives on your device. Apps that sync (for example, a device list synced between your iPhone and Mac) do so through your own private iCloud account, which we cannot access. Credentials such as API keys are stored in your Keychain.
- Local connections. Apps that talk to hardware on your network (like a router or a microphone) connect directly to that hardware. That traffic never passes through our servers.
What we do collect
- Crash reports and diagnostics. If you've opted in to sharing analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple provides us anonymized crash reports and usage statistics. We use them only to find and fix bugs.
- Support email. If you email support@boringware.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it to help you, and keep it so we can follow up.
- Website email signups. If you sign up to hear about a product launch, we store your email address for that purpose and nothing else. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Purchase records. Purchases happen through Apple (or the relevant marketplace). We receive aggregate sales reports, not your identity or payment details.
Website analytics
boringware.com uses Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics service that uses no cookies and collects no personal data. We see aggregate page views, never individual visitors.
What we never do
We never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes.
